Glenn Simmington is the 2015 recipient of the Genesee County Bar Association's Jerome F. O' Rourke Advocacy Award, given annually in recognition of a GCBA member who has demonstrated the highest level of professional excellence in advocacy, and who exemplifies the other principles of the American Inns of Court: Professionalism, Ethics and Civility.

 

Glenn was born in St. Louis, Missouri, July 14, 1952. He graduated from the University of Michigan with honors in 1978 and from Wayne State University Law School in 1981.

 

He is a member of the Genesee County Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and serves on the Michigan Public Defense Task Force.

 

Glenn Simmington maintains a general and appellate practice, in both state and federal courts, and handles cases involving fraud and abuse investigation, professional liability defense, civil rights litigation, criminal defense, and appellate advocacy.

 

His professional experience before the Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals includes years of successful appellate work, both as appellant and appellee.

 

He is also a member of the Eastern District of Michigan Criminal Justice Attorneys (CJA) Panel.

 

Glenn Simmington has obtained “not guilty” verdicts in criminal sexual assault jury trials in Genesee  and Livingston Counties, has successfully tried First Degree Murder trials in Genesee County, and had obtained “no cause” verdicts while representing physician-defendants in malpractice trials in Genesee, Shiawassee, Lapeer, and Iosco Counties.
